The Method

Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil: Why Students Don't Forget

The biggest fear of every Hifz student is forgetting. The traditional three-part system, used in Hifz schools for generations, solves it, and it sits at the heart of our online Quran memorization classes. Every lesson includes all three parts, and your tutor listens to each one.

Sabaq: the new lessonA few new lines or a page, depending on age and ability, recited until perfect.
Sabqi: recent revisionThe last several days of memorization, so new pages settle firmly.
Manzil: long-term revisionA rotating portion of everything memorized earlier, so old Surahs stay strong.
Realistic Goals

How Long Does Hifz Take?

Honest timelines matter more than promises. These are typical ranges for students in our online Quran memorization classes on the five-day plan; your tutor will set a personal target after the trial.

For Children

Part-Time Hifz Alongside American School

Full-time Hifz schools are rare in most of the United States, and many parents don't want their child to pause regular school. Part-time Hifz solves this: a 30-minute lesson after school, five days a week, plus ten to fifteen minutes of home revision. It's slower than a full-time program, but steady and sustainable through middle and high school.

Children are ready for online Quran memorization classes once they read fluently with basic Tajweed. If your child is still building reading skills, start with our online Quran classes for children or Quran classes for kids and move to Hifz when ready.

  • Targets matched to age and school workload
  • Lighter memorization during exams, more in summer

Adults & Sisters

It's Never Too Late to Memorize

Adults often think memorization is only for children. In reality, adults memorize with purpose and understanding, which helps verses stay. Many begin with Surahs they love, such as Al-Mulk before sleep, Al-Kahf on Fridays or Yasin, then grow toward Juz Amma and beyond.

Our online Quran memorization classes for adults set a pace that fits work and family, with lessons early, late or on weekends. Sisters can study with a female Quran teacher, and many mothers memorize alongside their children.

Memorization Tips

Seven Habits of Successful Huffaz

Tutors in our online Quran memorization classes teach these habits from day one.

1

Same Mushaf

Always use one printed copy so pages stick visually.

2

Fajr Time

Memorize when the mind is freshest.

3

Listen First

Hear the portion from a reciter before memorizing.

4

Small Portions

A few lines done perfectly beat a page done weakly.

5

Pray With It

Recite new Surahs in Sunnah and Nafl prayers.

6

Never Skip Revision

Revision first, new lesson second.

7

Understand It

Meaning anchors memory; try our Tafseer classes.

Before You Start

Are You Ready for Hifz?

Memorizing with mistakes means memorizing mistakes. That's why our online Quran memorization classes start with a short reading check. If you read fluently and apply basic Tajweed, you can begin Hifz immediately. If not, your tutor will first strengthen your reading through our online Quran classes with Tajweed or Quran recitation classes online, often for just a few weeks, before memorization begins.

For the full program outline, visit our Quran Memorization (Hifz) course page.

FAQ

Questions About Online Quran Memorization Classes

How long does it take to memorize the whole Quran online?

It varies with age, daily practice and lesson frequency. Many full-time students take two to four years; part-time students alongside school usually take longer. Your tutor sets a realistic personal timeline after assessing you.

Can my child do Hifz online while attending regular school?

Yes. Part-time Hifz is our most popular option: a 30-minute lesson after school, five days a week, plus short home revision. Progress is slower than full-time Hifz but steady and sustainable.

What do I need before joining online Quran memorization classes?

Students should read the Quran fluently with basic Tajweed. If reading is still slow, we start with recitation and Tajweed lessons first so memorization is accurate from the beginning.

What are Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil?

Sabaq is the new portion memorized each day, Sabqi is revision of recently memorized pages, and Manzil is long-term revision of everything memorized earlier. Combining all three prevents forgetting.

Can adults memorize the Quran online?

Yes. Many adults memorize selected Surahs such as Al-Mulk, Yasin and Al-Kahf, or work toward Juz Amma and beyond, with a pace that fits work and family life.

How much do online Quran memorization classes cost?

Plans start at $40 a month for three 30-minute lessons a week; most Hifz students choose the five-day plan at $55. Siblings get a discount and the first 5 trial days are free.
